 DOLPHIN COMPATIBILITY STATEMENT FOR WINDOWS VISTA AND OFFICE 2007

Dolphin Imaging version 10.5, Dolphin Aquarium and Dolphin Management version 3.5 are compatible with Windows Vista Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions and Microsoft Office 2007.   We suggest consulting with your local IT company on their recommendations on a Vista deployment strategy, including whether to upgrade existing machines from XP to Vista, whether to purchase new machines with Vista or XP, and whether to do 100% deployment of Vista workstations.  Note that Microsoft has extended the date that system builders (Dell, IBM, etc.) will continue offering new computers with XP for another year – thru January 31, 2009. Dolphin Imaging 10.5 Vista and Office 2007 compatibility notes:

  1. Dolphin Imaging supports Windows Vista. We support the Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions.

  2. You will need Dolphin Imaging 10.5 build 36 or later. Note that build 36’s installer will inform you that it is not compatible, but if you follow the rest of the caveats listed here, it actually is.

  3. If you have UAC’s on, will need to move your DOLPHIN.INI to the c:\dolphin folder. However, you will need to keep a stub DOLPHIN.INI copy, containing the [environment] section, in c:\windows.

  4. If you use the Letter System from Imaging, you must turn off UAC. And even then, the letter system merges very slowly under the Word 2007 / Vista combination.

  5. You will need to verify that the Dolphin / DLS installer has updated your c:\users\...\Dolphin Letter.dot file to the 250KB, June 8 2007 updated version.

  6. You will not be able to menu select “Insert | Object | Dolphin Image Control” (or layout control), directly from Word 2007 or PowerPoint 2007, outside of Dolphin.

  7. Many video drivers have problems with Direct3D, and hence with Dolphin3D. Some drivers work better with Dolphin3D if you turn off the Aero-Glass (transparency) Windows theme.

Dolphin Aquarium compatibility notes:

  1. Dolphin Aquarium supports Windows Vista. We support the Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions.

Dolphin Management 3.5 Vista and Office 2007 compatibility notes:

  1. If you are using both Dolphin Imaging and Dolphin Letter System, the same caveats outlined in the Imaging Section apply.

  2. Dolphin Management supports the 32-bit editions of Vista. We support the Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions.

  3. Dolphin Management does not yet support the 64-bit editions of Vista.

  4. If you are using fingerprint scanners, you must install the latest Digital Personal Fingerprint Scanner driver files, version 3.30 for Vista compatibility. These setup files can be found in C:\DOLPHIN\UareU330 (after loading the 3.5 update).

  5. If you have User Account Control ON, you will be prompted to ‘TRUST” Dolphin Management each time the program is opened.

  6. Dolphin Management 3.5 fully supports Microsoft Office 2007. You must installed Dolphin Letter System 10.5 for Word 2007 compability.
